Luxurious brand of Montblanc was founded by the stationer and trader, Claus-Johannes Voss, the banker Alfred Nehemias and the engineer August Eberstein in 1906, the company began as the Simplo Filler Pen company producing up-market pens in the Schanzen district of Hamburg. Their first model was the Rouge et Noir which was released into the market in 1909. The name ”Montblanc” meaning the highest mountain of the Alpes was picked for the company products in 1910. The Meisterstück title means “Masterpiece” was used for overpriced pens of the brand. In 1977, Dunhill started managing the company and eliminated manufacturing line of cheaper pens and used Montblanc name for a wide range of luxurious goods except pens. Today, the Montblanc brand is on other goods besides pens, including watches, jewelry, fragrances, leather goods and eyewear and the company is situated as a part of Richemont Group next to other luxurious brands of the group as below:
